Larry Koonse – guitar
Joe La Barbera – drums
Tom Warrington – bass
There is a lot to listen to, but I really like the song “Nardis”(Miles Davis). “Nardis” is a duet between Joe La Barbera and Tom Warrington. I only listened to the beginning of the song at first so that I could get an idea of what the head sounded like. After I felt like I could recognize the main part of the melody, I listened to the drums. It’s cool to hear Joe La Barbera’s interpretation of the melody.
Tom Warrington will be playing in the Joe La Barbera Quintet on July 31st at Charlie O’s in the city of Van Nuys (California).
Check out the big band swing, shake your thing, and have some dinner.
The Hollywood Canteen Swing Band will be performing this Friday May 30th @ 7:00pm at the Buena Park American Legion. Dinner always smells American and if you like light beer on tap, the drinks are cheap.
We’ll be playing your favorites by Sammy Nestico, Ella Fitzgerald, Louie Prima, Stan Kenton, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Tom Dorsey and others.
No pictures from the Holiday Vocal Concert, but I do have a slide show of the LBCC Big Band Concert.
See and hear this slide show of me playing bass in the City Jazz Big Band, and singing Smack Dab In the Middle with members of Studio 8.

People enjoyed the Studio Singers performance of What’ll I Do?, Hallelujah I love Her So, Sway (Quien Sera), Smack Dab In The Middle, and Peter Gunn.
Studio 8 received a lot of nice complements for our performance of “Smack Dab In the Middle”. Studio 8 also performed at the City Jazz Big Band concert. It was fun for me to switch between bass and vocal performance. Look for some pictures of that soon.
I am trying to track down some Holiday Concert pictures, wish me luck.
In case you are wondering why I have not been around, or why I have been hard to get a hold of, it’s because I have been preparing for the Scholarship Concert on Sunday October 14th. Don’t tell anyone I told you the song names, just tell them about the concert.
Suitable activity for all ages.
It’s a great date activity.
I wish pets were allowed.
The LBCC Night Big Band is playing two songs from this album.
-Cool School Dropout By Les Hooper Band on the CD “Out of the Woods”
-Miles Back By Les Hooper Band on the CD “Out of the Woods”.
The bass parts are unpredictable at first. It took time for the song Miles Back to grow on me. Miles Back is a fun bass chart to read.
Does this cover make you think of Mortal Combat the video game?
