I haven’t posted in a while because I have been a little busy. This season has been fun with a lot of singing, djembe, and bass. Here is a small collection of pictures from various gigs.

Just thought I would share a couple pictures from Long Beach City Colleges Vocal Jazz/Pop concert. I was hired to play bass for all the groups participating in the concert. For me, the concert involved a lot of notes, and a lot of tempo maintenance. I’m use to it though. Part of my job as bass is to help define the feel and clarify the chords IN YOUR BONES! :)
The singers were grateful. I am too.

Here we are as a Djembe and Steel Drum duo. For this gig we entertained the volunteers collecting trash.

Usually I sing in the tenor section, but this year there were plenty of other tenors. So, I was asked to play bass for the groups tour and final concert.
The concert will be this Friday 7th and Saturday 8th. We start at 7:30pm in the LBCC Auditorium.

For these three songs the treble knob was turned down to zero. This helps me create a clean sub-like sound and makes it easier to record and mix quickly. I have the treble down for most of the music I play except Big Band. The Big Band guys want to hear less “boom”. Basically they want to be tricked into thinking it’s a stand up bass. Don’t tell anyone I said that. :)
